*** Salt and pepper meat to taste. Brown meat in oil then add onions. Add 4 cups of water to cover and 4 bouillon cubes. Simmer until tender (2 or 3 hours). After tender, add vegetables, chestnuts, mushrooms, 4 bouillon cubes, celery and soy sauce. Thicken with cornstarch and sugar. Cook about 15 minutes. Make a day ahead!
