Wild Steak

One 6 oz pkg long grain & wild rice
2-1/4 cups water
1 tbs butter or margarine
1 flank or top round steak, cut 1-inch thick (about 1-1/4 lb)
1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1-1/2 cups small mushrooms, quartered
1 cup torn fresh spinach

Combine contents of rice and seasoning packets, water and butter in saucepan, Bring to a boil. Cover tightly and simmer 20 minutes. While rice simmers, sprinkle steak evenly with garlic salt and pepper. Place on rack in broiler pan. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat, 4 minutes per side for medium rare steak. Let stand on carving board 10 minutes covered loosely with foil. When rice has simmered 20 minutes, stir in mushrooms. Cover and continue simmering until all water is absorbed, about 5 minute, Slice steak across grain into 1/8 inch thick slices. Fan slices on 4 individual plates; pour any remaining natural juices over steak. Stir spinach into rice; serve alongside steak.
