Wash artichoke, well, with water on full force to get to bottom. Turn upside down and drain well. Put oil in heavy sauce pan. Saute onion, when soft, add ground meat. Cook 15 minutes until light brown. Add bread crumbs and seasonings. Let cook well. Stuff each leaf of the artichoke. Pack well with mixture. Put in heavy pot with a tight cover. If more than one artichoke is used, use a very large pot. Put about 1 inch of water in pot with lemon and garlic. Bring to boil. Lower heat to medium low. Cover and cook for 35-40 minutes. Watch water and add more water if it evaporates. Remove and set on plate. Let cool for 10 minutes.
