Waffles

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
5 tsp baking powder
7 tbs melted shortening
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp sugar
1 egg white
2-1/2 cups milk

With electric mixer beat whole egg with 1/2 cup of milk. Add by spoonful other ingredients, adding remaining milk while mixing. This batter will keep several days in refrigerator. Lightly beat before pouring on hot waffle irons.
