*** Use unsweetened chocolate in this recipe. Break up chocolate squares into saucepan. Add butter, salt and milk. Heat over low flame, stirring constantly, till thick and smooth (make sure all the chocolate has melted). Remove from heat. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat till thick enough to spread. Frosts one 9x13 or two 8 inch layer cakes.
