Meringue Shells

3 Egg White
1/4 tsp Cream 'n Tartar
1/8 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
1 cup Sugar

*** Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt till frothy. Gradually add sugar and vanilla. Beat till stiff peaks form. Cover cookie sheet with plain ungreased wax paper. Drop the mixture by spoonful and form shell. Bake in 275F oven for 1 hour. Turn off heat and allow to stand in oven for an additional hour.

For best results, make sure eggs are at room temperature. Shells can be filled with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. You can also fill with custard, pie fillings top with fruit and whipped cream.

Yield: 8 Shells
