Apple Oatmeal Bars

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened

2 eggs

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/4 cup flour

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

3/4 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

2 cup (about 2 med.) Golden Delicious apples, pared, cored and diced

1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats

1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts

In large bowl beat brown sugar and butter until creamy. Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy. Combine flours, cinnamon, baking powder; baking soda and salt. Stir into sugar mixture; mix thoroughly. Stir in apples, oats and nuts. Spoon into greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 375F 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.
