Fantasy Fig Cake

1 box white cake mix with pudding
3 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon each, butter and almond extract
2 cups mashed fig preserves
Powdered sugar for sprinkling cake
1 cup chopped pecans, optional

Preheat oven to 350F. Generously grease pan with shortening, lightly flour. Blend cake mix with water, oil, eggs, soda and extracts. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Add figs. Gently stir into cake mixture. Pour into baking pan. Bake 50-60 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly near center. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
