Preheat oven to 325F. Cream butter and sugar then add egg yolk and mix by hand. Add flour and nuts. Divide into 2 parts. Pat 1 part on bottom of 8 x 8 inch buttered baking pan. Spread preserves on top then pat other part on top of preserves. (Pat a little at a time in your hands then carefully place on top of preserves until entirely covered). Bake at 325F for 1 hour.
When cooled cut into 1-1/2 inch squares.
