Lemon Dessert

3 egg whites
3/4 teaspoon cream-of-tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla
16 single soda crackers
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 can lemon pie filling
Cool Whip

Preheat oven to 325F. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Gradually add 1 cup sugar continuing to beat until stiff. Roll 16 single soda crackers fine and fold in whites of egg, that have been beaten with 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Put in greased 9 x 13 inch pan and bake at 325F for 35 minutes. Cool. Beat 8 ounces cream cheese. Beat 1/2 pint whipping cream. Fold together and spread on cool crust. Spread on 1 can lemon pie filling and top with Cool Whip.
