Preheat oven to 375F. Mix dry ingredients. In another bowl mix shortening, butter, eggs, vanilla then mix until softened and smooth. Combine dry and wet ingredients together. Mix well, to a thick consistency. Add chocolate chips. While chopping pecans, put batter in refrigerator to chill. Then add pecans.
Shape dough into small balls. Then place on cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. DO NOT OVER COOK. Remove tray from oven and pinch the hot cookie ends to shape into a star.
