Smothered Pork Chops 1

8 large pork chops (center cut)
3 tablespoons flour (perhaps little more)
Salt and pepper to taste
1-1/2 cups Mazola oil
2 large onions, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 can mushrooms
1 teaspoon sugar

Season pork chops with salt and pepper. Sprinkle each chop with a little flour. Put half the oil in large Magnalite skillet. Add sugar to oil in middle of pot. Brown pork chops on both sides. After pork chops nave been browned, put lid on with 1/2 cup water. Let simmer until tender, turning occasionally. While stirring, if too dry, add a little more water. Add onions and bell pepper. Saute until tender. Add mushrooms and simmer. Serve over rice or with mashed potatoes.

Serves 6-8.
