Spicy Plum Butter

3 lb Italian prunes
2 cups sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/4 cup orange liqueur

Quarter prunes; remove pits. Puree in blender or food processor, a small portion at a time, until smooth; measure 1 quart puree. Add sugar and spices. Pour into large pan; simmer, uncovered, until mixture thickens (about 1-1/2 to 3 hours). Stir frequently as mixture thickens. Add liqueur; cool. Poor into freezer containers; store in freezer.

Makes about 4 cups.
