Spicy Rice Cabbage and Tomato Combo

Two 10-ounce cans of diced tomatoes with chilies
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
4 cups cabbage, shredded
Water
2 cups cooked rice
2 cups soft bread crumbs
1 tablespoon margarine, melted
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 350F. In a medium sauce pan, mix tomatoes, sugar and green onion. Cook 5 minutes over medium heat in a medium sauce pan. Cook cabbage in enough water to cover it for about 6 minutes. Drain.

Arrange:
Tomato mixture, cabbage and rice in successive layers in a 2-1/2 quart casserole dish.

In a small saucepan combine bread crumbs with melted tablespoon margarine and cheese. Sprinkle over casserole.

Bake at 350F. for about 20 minutes, covered.

Serves 6-8.
