Orange Syrup

1-3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon orange rind
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons orange juice
1/3 cup light Karo
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon rum extract

Mix all ingredients in heavy (small) pot, let come to a boil. Then simmer on very low fire for 3 minutes. Put in sterilized jars.

Let cool and refrigerate. Delicious on biscuits, toast, waffles, pancakes or drizzled on vanilla ice cream.

Makes 2-1/2 pints.
